Stopped up to see Mom in the afternoon, She was very talkative and alert. On Thursday Mom went bowling. I am not sure how she did this time however last time she went bowling she got a strike and then a 3 pin. Just talked about nothing in particular. Mark and Mom chatted about the Packers and possible purchases of free agents.
Tuesday –
After breakfast Mom received a haircut. They do this right on site, so Mom was wheeled into the “beauty shop” and received just a quick trim to shorten her hair up. After that was trip to the TV room for a short. Mom then requested to be put into her bed. She prefers to lie down as sitting tends to hurt her back. When Mom went to bed on Tuesday she woke in the night to some back and right ankle pain. So much so, she asked for some pain med. Once those kicked in she was able to fall back to sleep.
Wednesday –
Today is my “day” to visit with Mom. I came into her room in the early morning (6 am) while she was sleeping and “stole” her laundry. This led to a funny conversation between her and the nurse. Mom was facing away from the area where the laundry basket normally is. The nurse asked “where is your basket?” and Mom said “right there!” then turned to look and said, “well, it was right there.” They both chuckled and agreed I was the likely culprit.
I stayed for lunch with Mom. She did most of the work. I was just there for extra support. I did help with the watermelon as those little pieces were just too darn little! Mom continues to eat the same amount of food she always has. To the staff, that means 25% of her meals. To us, that means, same ol’ same ol’. After lunch, Mom opted to lay down in bed. Her back was hurting from being int he chair (between 11 – 1). As she lies there we chat. She is giving me a list of how things feel. Her tingly fingers are now numb to her elbows. Her tingly feet have more feeling in the left but the right, no feeling. And now she rests (and I go back to working).
Hello-Starting this site to report updates on Jan to all. Anyone can write a message or give an update. Hope to keep you all in the loop this way instead of individually.
Quick visit with the family. Mom didn’t go to church, was too tired. Her back was hurting her from sitting so she was lying flat.
