Mom had a nice pampering type of date with the hairdresser (something I think mom has always enjoyed).
I remember as a child how making a date to have my hair permed was something mom always made a big deal over. Then again, with the stubborn Papke hair, we (at least for me) can use all the help we can get!
A fun time back in March. While she was racing and while she was cheering, she was all smiles.
Mom said, “It was goofy but so funny they were all laughing and cheering.”
Mom even won a medal!

This image started out just like a page from one of my mom’s coloring books – only, I downloaded it onto my computer and colored it in with an image manipulation tool digitally. It turns out that even when coloring digitally, I go out of the lines. The only benefit is that I can hit the “undo” button and try again. I just wanted to let mom know I was thinking about her and to share my attempt.

Keeping the residents entertained can sometimes be challenging but races designed to re-enforce hand-eye coordination and balance combines physical therapy with fun and a little bit of competition.
The race involved balancing pancakes on a spatula, being wheeled to the other side of the room and flipping the pancakes to fill a plate.
Rumor has it that Jan won the race. Was there any doubt?
